But, you know, I'm a bit disappointed with the result...and it's really to do with scale. The fabric looked great on a small elephant, but the spots aren't big enough to work on something this size (35cm wide). So I'm now on a mission to find some fabric with BIG spots!
I was quite pleased with her button 'eye' - a ceramic little number with polka dots - perfect!
And, as always, I have more ideas in the pipeline...another animal cushion...bet you can't guess what it's going to be....!
Fabrics from Saints and Pinners
I reckon I can get another 4 or 5 vessels from the rest..would look pretty in a little girl's room, I thought! So, in short, not a particularly successful day - isn't it frustrating when things don't go to plan! Still there's always tomorrow!
Finally, remember that lovely pinky driftwood I mentioned back here? Here's one boat made from it....
Hope you're having a good week!
I think the elephant looks lovely! The ceramic button is a real find, it is so pretty! x
ReplyDeletelove it, especially the elephant!
ReplyDeleteWell I really like your elephant. I love the fabrics you have used. May I ask where you got them and is it a linen?
ReplyDeleteyour new fabric looks great too and am looking froward to seeing what you are going to make there.
Love Rachael xx
Thanks Rachael! The fabric all comes from saintsandpinners.co.uk, who I highly recommend! It's cotton, so I've lined it with calico.
ReplyDeleteLove Nellie, she is beautiful. have just bust my needle sewing the curtain up! Have decided to go on a course to learn how to use it properly before I blow the house up.
ReplyDeleteThat dusky pink boat makes me swoon. What a pretty addition to a little girl's room. L x

ReplyDeleteHi Kirsty, love the elephant! I have seen large dots on fabric on ebay. Fliss.

Recently I purchased a yard of nice medium weight polka dot cotton by Premier Prints. It's an orangey-terra cotta color background with big 2 inch cream polka dots. It doesn't suit my project at all :( If you would like it, I'd be happy to mail it to you :)
ReplyDeleteLove the elephant but I also adore that pink wood and the way you've made a boat out of it-
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous- You make me wish I could sew,you make such lovely things- and thank you for your sweet words, always, on my blog- Have great weekend-
